NOTE: If you get stuck while in build mode in survival try to check on the top right the "Cost" counter. If cost exceeds your current scrap you cannot leave, try to delete some parts to make your ship cheaper. If you want to freely build creations use the "Freebuild" mode, it has infinite resources!
